Utah (part 2)

A favorite activity of the kids was to go to the park with Dad and battle it out to see who is the best shot with the nerf guns!!
We loved having the opportunity to throw a little history at the kids by taking them on a tour of the state capital. It was amazing to see such a beautiful piece of architecture. I couldn't help but think of my dad:)
I loved how the artist encorporated Utah's amazing history. Our guide made it a point to let us know that when Brigham Young declared "This is the place", he was not quite in as good of health as is portrayed in this painting.
Ethan was amazed at the height of the dome. I am pretty sure that Ellie took this picture!!
Ellie found her own fun climbing up or sliding down whatever she could get away with.
After we left the state capital, it was time to visit Uncle Perry for a haircut. Jeremy's sister Karrin is married to a barber whose shop is on State Street in Salt Lake City. Once again, Ellie found something to ride on:)
Later that same day it was time for MORE HISTORY. We visited the "This is the Place Monument". We did not get to spend enough time there so we will make that top priority next summer. I loved visiting this sacred place and was so grateful for our pioneer heritage!!
Now that I am a parent, this little family meant so much to me. I can't imagine leaving everything behind to pull a handcart with minimal belongings for two thousand miles.
It was time for lunch and not just any picnic spot will do...Jeremy found us an empty wagon and we ate our lunch like the pioneer. (Minus the Dad's Rootbeer)

While in Utah, we got to visit our dear friends Bryan and Noel Hinton. We spent the night at their beautiful home and had a great time. The next day we loaded up the families and headed west to the Kennecott Copper Mine. The dump truck you see in the picture is apparently as big as a house...If you look closely, you can see more of these dump trucks driving in the distance. Ethan was LOVING this. It reminded me of my big loader construction set that I played with as a kid.
Here is a closer look at the dumping process. That truck holds an amount of dirt equivalent to 60 cars - or something crazy like that!!!
Here is the fam taking in the sights.
Noel, Eliza and I needed to find some shade and have a little snack break. We had been attacked by tons of little biting gnats and they seemed to be less carnivorous in the shade!!
This is a tire from the dump truck!! We were blown away by the size of these trucks.
The kids got to have a little sleepover in the playroom. HOW FUN!!
Jeremy and "BH" enjoying a little hang-time!!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!! I should have given this picture it's very own post - but OH well! This is Father's Day morning. We got up early and made Jeremy a yummy breakfast. The kids made cards and drew Jeremy some pictures. I remind the kids how hard I had to search to find such a perfect daddy. He is so much fun and makes everything we do- WAAY more entertaining!! He is the best daddy in the world - for our 3 kiddos!!!
The main event of our Utah trip was Jeremy's brothers wedding. He and Whitney were married in the Salt Lake temple on 6-18-08. Here they are with most of the nieces and nephews on the Johnson side. It was such a great day - we were so glad to be there to share that day with them!
Brothers!!!
I was hanging out with the family when I glanced over and saw this sweet moment. The bride and groom were dancing, as were Whitney's parents and Jeremy had stepped in for his dad. I really felt like "Grandpa Johnson" was a part of this wonderful day!
