We had been planning on going to New Mexico, the day after Christmas, for months. Our good friends Shawn and Amber live there and we love to go and hang with their family. Well - big storms in Northern AZ meant that we would take the southern route. Going through Tuscon adds 2 hours, but would be worth it to miss the weather. Well, as you can see, about 5 minutes east of Tuscon, we hit SNOW. It really never got too bad and in the end we were so glad we went ahead with our trip.

This is the Pearce's home in the mountains just east of Albuquerque. Good times!

The first thing our kids wanted to do was sled in the backyard. They got their gear together and spent tons of time out there.

Ethan loved it despite wearing tennis shoes and probably having FREEZING feet. It was soo worth it!

Later that day, we headed out to a place called Rudy's. Yummy BBQ!!!

Eating out on vacation at new restaurants is one of my favorite things to do. This place did not disappoint! It had great BBQ sauce - a mild one (Sissy sauce) and the spicier version for those who like it HOT!!!! Great food!

Truthfully, we don't really need to eat out in New Mexico because Shawn and Amber make GREAT food at home. This is a traditional New Mexican green chile smothered burrito. SOOOO delicious!

We ditched the kids on our last night and hit old town Albuquerque and of course, tried a new restaurant.

This restaurant had the cheesiest, gooiest queso we had ever had. Sorry I cut you out of the pic Amber!

After a few fun filled days in NM, it was time to say goodbye to our quasi-cousins. The kids all had a great time, but we had to head back to the valley of the sun!

I haven't looked at blogs since right after Christmas. It was fun to see all your beautiful faces and hear what you are doing. We love you lots and lots.
