Owen was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia when he was 3 weeks old. We had to wait until he was at least 10 weeks old before we could do the surgery. Here he is looking oh-so-chipper at 5:45 in the morning while waiting to check in. So far - so good.

We had a seriously long wait in pre-op (due to an emergency surgery before us) which involved: lounging in the bed, crying (Owen and mommy), walking around, more crying, and lots of mommy trying to convince Owen that it was somehow OK that it had been almost 6 hours since his last meal!!!! CHAOS!!
He finally passed out from exhaustion (or lack of food). He is such a yummy little baby!!!! I am constantly chewing on those cheeks. (Ethan is probably glad about that because it means less cheek squeezing for him!!)
Finally in recovery - Owen's nurse, Lissa, brought him this little elephant named "Peanut". He was such a good little patient (minus the little episode where he pulled the IV out of his hand)!!! He had been so good all day - is there hope for some back to back hours of sleep???

Ooohhh what a delicious baby. I can't wait to hold him and squish him. I am so glad that he came through the surgery so well and that it is finally over and corrected. Hopefully this will mean some comfort for him and sleep for you both. I always feel so much relief when my children's surgeries are over (10 surgeries in 10 years - ugghh)
Okay, so I have been stalking your blog for a while and have yet to make a comment. So this comment is about all your wee ones. They are all so beautiful and I love hearing about them and their adventures.....Owen has gotten so big since my lurking began. What a cutie, and a wonderful blessing to your family! Anyway, just wanted to make a shout out and let you know I am out here in cyberspace watching and loving the posts :)
P.S. This is the friend formerly known as Jen Welton
I want to hold that baby sooo bad it's killing me. I'm surprised I haven't just jumped in the car to drive down and see him. Maybe I will just do that. Except I now realize you guys are leaving for Utah soon. Guess it'll have to wait until Aaron's wedding. I call dibs on holding him that week (as long as Kamryn doesn't have a total freak out session)
Oh dear Mary-Mary, I had no idea...you guys just jumped high on the thoughts and prayer list! And yes, Owen is just adorable!
oooh - Hi Jen the blog stalker. You can stalk mine too. How's your sister? ~the friend formerly known as Margaret Peart
Poor buddy! I hope all went well. I love seeing that little man grow to be sooo big (not really, but for him he's big). What great accomplishments for your other two also. I wish Kenley would go back to dancing also, maybe some day!
Oh my gosh! He looks a lot like you Mary!
He is sweet! What a trooper Owen is!!
I'm glad it went well. See you guys in a few days or so.
Hooray!
He is a handsome baby. Just like his Mom and Dad. We all want to get acquainted with him and yes, chew on his cheeks.
My good friend Maaaaarrrrrryyyyy! I can't believe Owen's cheeks are sooo huge. I don't think I really saw him before I left and I'm now not going to be able to see him until summer is over. I probably won't be able to recognize him by then. I'm having fun in Texas; very relaxing. I hope Utah is going great too. I've set up an email for myself. It is jillrichphotography@gmail.com. If you ever have a moment, call me on my cell. I will do the same to you. Love Ya!
